Getting more resolution out of a photo that doesn't have it
Most "resize" tools just stretch a photo's existing pixels, which is why a phone screenshot or an old product photo turns to mush the moment you make it bigger. This tool does two separate jobs instead of one: it rebuilds the missing pixels using adaptive interpolation that follows edges rather than blurring across them, then it runs a sharpening pass tuned for the new size so fine lines and text stay legible instead of turning soft.
That combination matters most for a specific set of everyday problems: a product photo shot at low resolution that now needs to fill a large marketplace listing image, a scanned print or an old family photo that was never captured at more than a few hundred pixels wide, a screenshot that needs to go into a document or slide at a larger size, or a logo or graphic that needs a clean bump for print. Getting the best result
- Start from the best source you have. A slightly larger, less-compressed original will always upscale cleaner than a heavily compressed JPEG pulled off a social feed.
- Don't jump straight to 4× if 2× will do. Smaller scale jumps preserve more natural detail; only reach for 4× when you genuinely need the extra size.
- Sharpen after scaling, not before. This tool already sequences it that way — sharpening a small image and then stretching it just enlarges the artifacts.
- Watch the sharpen slider on faces and skin. A lower setting (around 30–40%) usually looks more natural on portraits; product shots and text can take it higher.
Algorithmic enhancement vs. neural "AI" upscalers
